Temporary Fencing Questions, Answered

Everything East Valley contractors, event organizers, and pool builders actually ask us — costs, permits, Arizona’s pool barrier law, monsoon wind, and how the rental works day to day. Short version: fence runs $1.50–$3.00 per foot per month, delivery is same-week across Mesa, and the quote you get is the price you pay.

If your question isn’t here, it’s probably on the pricing page or one of the service pages — construction site fencing, temporary pool fencing, and event fencing cover the deeper code and logistics questions for those jobs. Still stuck? Send the question through the quote form; real questions get real answers, usually same-day.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to rent a temporary fence in Mesa, AZ?

Standard 6-ft chain link runs $1.50–$3.00 per linear foot per month, or $20–$50 per panel per month. Typical residential jobs land at $150–$500/month and construction sites at $800–$3,000/month. Delivery, installation, and removal add a one-time $100–$500. Full detail is on our pricing page.

How quickly can a fence be delivered and installed?

Same-week is standard across Mesa, Gilbert, Tempe, and Apache Junction, and small panel orders can often go next-day. Lead times stretch during Cactus League season (February–March) and the fall event rush, so reserve early if your dates are fixed.

Do I need a permit for a temporary fence in Mesa?

Usually not for the fence itself. On construction projects it's covered by your building permit; for events it falls under the special event permit. The exception is fencing that occupies public sidewalk, street, or alley — that needs a City of Mesa right-of-way permit and possibly a traffic control plan. We'll flag it when we see your layout.

What does Arizona law require for fencing around a pool under construction?

ARS 36-1681 requires a barrier at least 5 feet tall around any pool capable of holding 18 inches of water — and an excavation counts once it can hold water. Openings can't allow a 4-inch sphere to pass, and gates must be self-closing and self-latching. Municipal codes in Mesa and neighboring cities layer on top, so we install to the strictest applicable standard.

Will temporary fencing survive monsoon storms?

Properly ballasted, yes. Monsoon outflow gusts in the East Valley regularly hit 50–70 mph, so we use heavy sandbag-ballasted bases, extra bags on exposed runs, and bracing on long straight lines. The main failure mode is windscreen acting as a sail — during June–September we either add ballast for screened lines or recommend pulling the screen.

Do you require ground stakes or can panels be freestanding?

Our standard install is freestanding panels on ballasted bases — no ground penetration. That protects finished asphalt, stamped concrete, post-tension slabs, and buried utilities. Driven-post installs are available where a site specifically needs them and utility locates clear.

What is Maricopa County Rule 310 and does my fence relate to it?

Rule 310 is the county's fugitive dust regulation for construction sites disturbing a tenth of an acre or more — it requires a dust control permit and active dust suppression. Perimeter windscreen is a common, visible control that helps knock down wind-blown dust at the fence line. It doesn't replace water trucks, but inspectors notice it.

What sizes are the fence panels?

Standard panels are 12 feet wide by 6 feet tall in chain link. Pool barrier configurations run 5 feet tall to meet ARS 36-1681. Steel crowd barricades are roughly 6.5–8 feet wide at about 43 inches tall, interlocking end to end.

Is there a minimum rental period?

One month on fence panels, billed month to month afterward — no fixed term. Events are different: weekend and single-day rates are available for festivals, races, and private functions.

What happens if I need the fence line moved mid-project?

Common on construction jobs — pours, phase changes, trenching. Relocations are a flat service call ($100–$250 typical) rather than a renegotiated contract. Call, tell us the new line, and we schedule the move.

Do you rent windscreen or privacy screen by itself?

Windscreen mounts to fence, so it's rented as an add-on to our panels at $0.50–$1.00 per foot per month rather than standalone. If you already have fence from another provider, ask — sometimes we can help, sometimes attaching to someone else's fence is a liability problem.

Can you fence a vacant building or lot, not just construction?

Yes. Property managers use us to secure vacant commercial buildings, fire-damaged structures, and lots between tenants — common along Mesa's older Main Street and Country Club corridors. Insurance carriers often require documented site security on vacant stock; a fenced perimeter is the first line.

Who is responsible if a panel is damaged or stolen during my rental?

Normal wear is on us. Damage beyond wear — a skid steer through a panel, panels that walk off an unsecured site — bills at repair or replacement cost, which we state in the rental terms upfront. It's another reason locked gates matter.

Do you serve areas outside Mesa?

Yes — Gilbert, Tempe, East Mesa, and Apache Junction are core territory, and we quote surrounding East Valley cities case by case. Delivery pricing scales with distance and is always stated on the quote, not discovered on the invoice.

Are you licensed and insured?

We're locally operated and work with licensed, insured local crews on every install. Certificates of insurance for your GC or event venue are available on request — most commercial sites require one before our truck rolls, and we're used to that.

How far in advance should I book for an event?

Two to three weeks for a typical event; more for February–March, when spring training at Sloan Park and Hohokam Stadium plus festival season stack demand. Construction fencing is easier — same-week is normal — but big-footage orders (1,000+ ft) benefit from a week's notice.
