Temporary Fence Rental Cost Calculator
Enter footage, type, and duration and this gives you the range you would typically hear on the phone for a temporary fence in Mesa. It is built from the pricing page table, it does not ask for an email, and it shows the whole number rather than a monthly rate with the delivery hidden.
Two honest notes. Delivery, install, and removal is its own line and should be: it is the same two trips whether you rent for a month or six. And screen costs more than its own line item, since a screened fence catches wind. In this valley that is the single most important thing to understand about temporary fence.
What each answer changes
- Footage dominates. Without a figure, step off the fence line yourself or outline the lot on satellite imagery. Panels are 12 feet, so perimeter ÷ 12, rounded up, plus one or two for gates and corners.
- Fence type is about duration and strength. Panels on bases go up in hours, do not touch the ground, and come out clean, which suits events, short jobs, and no-dig sites. In-ground chain link is far stronger and the right call for three months or more.
- Duration multiplies the monthly rate, and longer terms price better per month. Ask directly if your job runs six months or more.
- Screen carries its own rate and raises the ballast the line needs.
- Gates are $50–$150 each. Size them for the largest thing that has to get through, not for people. A gate too narrow for a concrete truck is discovered on the worst possible morning.
The wind conversation, because this is Mesa
Bare chain link lets air through. A screened line does not, and 300 feet of screened fence is a 300-foot sail. Monsoon season runs roughly mid-June through September, and Valley microbursts produce brief gusts that walk an under-ballasted panel line across a site.
Practically:
- Screened lines need more weight, at closer spacing, with panels tied together and bracing on long runs.
- Driven posts outperform sandbags on any screened, long-term line.
- Some sites should not be screened at all through July and August, and we will say so rather than rent you a liability.
The monsoon post covers how lines should be set for it and the blown over page covers what happens when nobody does.
If this is a pool build
Mesa’s pool code requires 60-inch construction fencing from the day of excavation until the permanent barrier is completed, not only once the pool is filled, and Mesa inspects. A temporary pool barrier is a specified product rather than a fence parked around a hole. See temporary pool fencing and the pool barrier law page, and use the pool-code option above so the number is right.
If this is an event
Event work prices by unit and day rather than by foot and month. The barricade and crowd control calculator does that, and most Mesa events use both barricades and fence panels. Send both estimates together and ask for one combined number.
What will my temporary fence cost?
Five questions, built from the same table on our pricing page. This is the range you would hear on the phone before anyone measures the site.
Panels run $20 to $50 per panel per month and in-ground chain link runs $1.50 to $3.00 per linear foot per month on the pricing page. Delivery, install and removal is $100 to $500 depending on footage and distance.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does temporary fence rental cost in Mesa?
Freestanding 12-foot chain link panels run $20–$50 per panel per month, and chain link on in-ground posts runs $1.50–$3.00 per linear foot per month. Add $100–$500 once for delivery, installation, and removal, scaled to footage and distance. A residential pool barrier typically lands at $150–$400 a month.
Why is delivery its own line instead of built into the monthly rate?
Because it does not scale with duration. Whether you keep the fence one month or six, it is the same truck, the same crew, and the same two trips. Rolling it into the monthly rate overcharges long jobs and hides the real comparison between quotes.
What does screen add?
$0.50–$1.00 per linear foot per month for the screen, and then it adds ballast and bracing, because a screened line is a solid sail. In a Mesa monsoon that is not optional, and any quote that adds screen at the screen rate alone is pricing a fence that will not stand up in July.
How many panels is my perimeter?
Freestanding panels are 12 feet, so divide your perimeter by 12 and round up, then add one or two for gates and corners. A 400-foot lot perimeter is about 35 panels.
